General Liability Associate - Chicago Law Firm
A established Chicago law firm is seeking a General Liability Associate with 3-5 years of experience to join their growing practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high‑stakes matters in a collaborative, team‑focused environment.

Responsibilities

* Handle a variety of matters, including toxic tort , malpractice claims , subrogation , and general liability defense
* Manage complex litigation from initial investigation through resolution
* Work efficiently within Illinois insurance defense standards , including meeting billing and reporting requirements
* Prepare pleadings, discovery, motions, and other legal documents
* Participate in depositions, court appearances, negotiations, and strategy development

Qualifications

* Juris Doctor (JD) and admission to the Illinois State Bar
* 3-5+ years of general liability or insurance defense litigation experience , with at least 5 years of Illinois insurance defense work within the last 3 years (as stated in original posting; let me know if you'd like this aligned or clarified)
* Strong litigation, case management, and negotiation skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
* Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage billable-hour expectations
